Cotes du rhone- Henri tourelle (france)

The nose is full of aromas of small red fruits with hints of cooked cherries, thus producing a smooth and rounded wine with a warm spiciness. Very quaffable.

 

Domaine curniere – vacqueyras (france)

 A solid, chunky red with a wonderfully complex aroma.

 

Pinotage 2004 – Bellingham (South Africa)

A bright ruby wine with bramble and plum flavors which carries through to the palate, intermingled with some vanilla and oakey tones. Soft tannin gives fresh, clean finish.

 

Shiraz cabernet sauvignon 2005/6 – Hardy’s captain’s (Australia)

 A wine that is bright cherry red in colour with a fresh bouquet with hints of vanilla oak and fresh berries and a medium bodied palate with soft round finish.

 

Oomoo shiraz 2004/5 – Hardy’s (Australia)

Very deep in colour. The nose has intense ripe brambly fruit overlaid by coconut and vanilla oak, full bodied and juicy in the mouth. Supple tannins.

 

Merlot mezzacorona trentino (Italy)

Scented on the nose, with plenty of black fruit in evidence. Mid-bodied and fruity, with fairy soft tannins

 

Cabernet sauvignon 2004/5 – Errazuriz estate (Chile)

A medium-bodied style of wine with the fruit evident on the palate combined with spicy wood and a slight mintiness

 

Cabernet sauvignon/shiraz 2003 – Nottage hill, Hardy’s (Australia)

Rich, warm and soft with medium to full bodied structure. Excellent balance between fruit and oak.

 

Malbec 2003/4 – Trapiche Mendoza (Argentina)

Dark plum red with aromas of damson and oak. Full bodied and succulent on the palate, with a long complex finish.

 

Barolo 2001/2 – Terre de Barolo (Italy)

Good concentration of fruit and flavour with high tannin, acid and alcohol. Complex woody nose with lingering liquorice on the palate.

 

Cabernet sauvignon 2003/5 – Zagara nero D’avola (Italy)

A big mouthful of wine with plenty of blackcurrant fruit.

 

Paternina clos, 1999 – (Spain)

A sappy, oaky cabernet that has a good attack of dark fruit.

 

Grant burge miamba shiraz 2004 - (Barossa, Australia)

Rich aromas of vanilla oak and red summer berries, soft on the palate with well integrated oak and tannis

 

Chianti classico, L cecchi figli - (Tuscany, Italy)

This chianti has ripe, soft fruit on the nose and a decent grip on the palate. Well balanced, dry and fruity, with a light tannis which softens with time. Intensely vinous nose with an aroma of violets.

 

lorca monastrell 2003/5 (Murcia, Spain)

Full bodies with white tannis and a good underlying dark fruit, black cherry and spice aromas are present. quick though and solid on the finish.

 

Dao, quinta de cabiz 2003/5 - (Dao, Portugal)

Deep ruby in colour, with spicy bramble fruit and good structure. The aromas and slightly savoury at first but then a good whack of blackberry jam and oak takes over. The jammy fruit is very much part of the taste as well, along with the supple tannis and low acidity.

 

Mcguigans black label shiraz - (South East Australia)

Soft and fruity, with plenty of spicy berry character. mid garnet in colour very oaky on the nose. The intense vanilla aromas are followed by jammy berry fruit. Noticeably sweet on the palate. Mid-fully bodied with low acidity and yielding tannis.

 

Rose Wine

 

Rose – D’ Anjou 2005/6 – (France)

Orange salmon pink, limpid and brilliant. Attractive red fruits on the nose with a strawberry and red currant flavour. A well balanced, fruity, refreshing and pleasant wine to drink.

 

pinot grigio blush, Sartori (Veneto, Italy)

Pale pink, off dry with soft red fruit characters.

 

White wine

 

Muscadet de sevre-et-maine 2005/6 – Jacques gibier (france)

This is a very popular wine. Dry and crisp with underlying fruit. Crystal clear colour. Good fruit on the palate with a good length of character.

 

Sauvignon blanc 2005/6 – Villa maria estate (New Zealand)

Private bin. Crisp dry white with a classical herbaceous gooseberry characters and a refreshingly dry finish and approachable zesty acidity.

 

Mezzacorona trentino 2005 – Pinot grigio (Italy)

The wine has a pleasant and fruity bouquet, the palate is dry.

 

Sauvignon blanc 2005/6 – Errazuriz estate (Chile)

The wine is light straw colour with green tinges to it. The aroma is slighty herbal. The grassy gooseberry characters are very evident although so is a little tropical fruit. On the palate the fruit characters carry through to give freshness and a long finish

 

Chardonnay 2005/6 – Errazuriz estate (Chile)

Light straw colour with an aroma of pear and peach blending with ripe tropical apricot characters. The palate is full and weighty with a creamy mid-palate. The finish is long, sweet and complex.

 

Liebfraumilch – franz schonhein (Germany)

Light table wine, well balanced, soft and harmonious with fruity flavour.

 

Petit Chablis domaine millet 2003/4 – (France)

A semi-dry zingy palate follows on from and intensely pure and aromatic nose

 

Pepi pinot grigio 2004/5 – (California)

A vibrant and fruity new world take on pinot grigio.

 

Villa maria Riesling 2006 – (New Zealand)

A semi-dry zingy palate follows on from and intensely pure and aromatic nose.

 

Ruben hall, Sauvignon blanc 2006

Fresh and zest with ripe goosberry fruit and a crispy finish. Clean and grassy on the nose, with undelying notes of guava and ripe tropical fruits. The palate is fresh and crisp, with a real zing.

 

Boomerang bay chardonnay, Grant burge - (South East Australia)

Clean, balanced and crisp with light citrus and apple character. Mid yellow straw appearance. The soft ripe fruit is very appealing, with mango and peach to the fore. There is a gentle creamy touch as well.

 

Grant burge zerk old vine semillon 2004/2005 - (Barossa, Australia)

Aromas of tropical fruit salad with hints of guava. Soft, clean and crisp with creamy texture. Bright lime-gold in colour. Fresh and vibrant, with ripe white and green fruit aromas to the fore.

 

Sparkling wine

 

GF cavalier, Brut (France)

A fresh mouth-filling mousse with a clean fruity character. Dry but well-balanced with a generous, rounded style. A fine example of a brut vin mousseux.

 

CAVA, segura viudas (Spain)

Pale straw in colour showing plenty of fizz. Clean and simple with a greenness to the aroma. Just a tough of bottle development. Light bodied.

 

Segura cava rosada - (Penedes, Spain)

Pale pink cava showing intensity of red berries and exotic fruits. Fresh and delicate on the palate. Powerful mousse and pale copper in colour. A good attack of red fruit backed up sherbet and cream complexity.

 

Ponte prosecco extra dry - (Italy)

Clean, dry and crisp with a creamy finish. A good mousse made up of tiny bubbles. Very pale lime colour. The nose is lively and clean, showing off some sappy green fruit aromas. Highish acidity and a dry palate accentuate the freshness of this wine.

 

Desert wine

 

Noble Rot Riesling 2005/6 – Paul cluver (South Africa)

A luscious but balanced sweet white wine that has a hugely complex aroma.

 

Champagne

 

Moet & Chandon NV, Brut Imperial

Pale gold with bountiful tiny bubbles. Remarkable aromas of great finesse, creamy and biscuity as well as showing hints of brioche with overtones of honey and vine blossom.

Tattinger Reserve, Brut

Clean, delicate and complete, this is a dray and elegant non-vintage champagne with the subtle bouquet and body of chardonnay grape.

Tattinger Prestige Rose, Brut

Delicate salmon pink in colour. Its aromas are fresh with wild strawberries and a hint of spice. On the palate, the wine is balanced, lively and smooth.
